About Our Client

Job Description
Develop physical design packages for transmission and distribution substations (12kV-500kV).
Prepare detailed engineering drawings including:
General Arrangement (GA) plans
Equipment plans and elevations
Section views
Foundation plans
Grounding layouts
Conduit and cable trench layouts
Control building layouts
Bus and equipment arrangements
Structural steel details
Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bentley OpenUtilities Substation.
Produce accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and equipment lists.
Coordinate designs with civil, structural, electrical, protection & controls, and transmission engineering teams.
Perform field walkdowns and site visits to verify existing conditions and support design development.
Ensure designs comply with utility standards, NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and client specifications.
Incorporate vendor drawings and equipment information into final design packages.
Support constructability reviews and resolve design issues during construction.
Participate in QA/QC reviews and maintain drawing quality standards.
Assist with project schedules and meet established design milestones.

The Successful Applicant
A Successful Physical Substation Designer Should Have
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of physical substation design experience.
Experience designing utility substations from 12kV through 500kV.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and engineering calculations.
Strong understanding of substation equipment including:
Power transformers
Circuit breakers
Disconnect switches
Instrument transformers (CTs/PTs)
Buswork
Control buildings
Steel structures
Knowledge of utility drawing standards and construction practices.
